Where we are
The allotments are a minute from the centre of the village, on St John's land. There is parking very close by, and no need to arrange anything in advance. Come up and have a look.
Visiting
You are welcome at the allotments at any time. You do not need to be a member, you do not need to ask first, and there is no particular day to come on. If you want to see what is here, come and see what is here.
If you would rather somebody showed you round, email secretary@northboveyallotments.org.uk and we will arrange it. That is worth doing if you are thinking about taking a plot, because a plot looks very different depending on what has been done to it and what is underneath, and half an hour with somebody who knows the ground will tell you more than any page here.
The gate is never locked. Dogs are welcome under control. There is nothing on the site you need to be warned about.
One thing to say: the plots themselves are people's own. Walk the paths, look at whatever you like, and leave what is growing where it is.
While you are here
If you are making the trip to North Bovey especially, St John's is worth the few minutes it takes. The allotments have stood on its land for generations, so the two are not really separate things, and the church is the reason there is a field here at all. It is St John the Baptist, thirteenth and fifteenth century, granite, with a tinners rabbit on one of the roof bosses. It is normally open during the day.
